Southern Oregon University has many merit-based and need-based scholarships available!

We are proud to offer the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Scholarship to out-of-state residents from qualifying states.

The Southern Online Scholarship Application (SOSA) is a general scholarship application for over 80 scholarships. For instructions on completing the SOSA and to see full list of available SOSA scholarships, please visit the SOSA homepage. The deadline for completing the SOSA is March 1st. You must be admitted to complete the SOSA, so if you haven't already, submit your application for admission! You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for SOSA scholarships.

Listed below are SOU scholarship opportunities for both in-state and out-of-state students. Included are the automatic consideration scholarships awarded by the Office of Admissions. The SOU Scholarship Calculator will help you determine which of these merit-based scholarships you may be eligible for.

Oregon Resident Scholarships

Laurels Scholarship

Amount: $2,500/yr
Requirements: Oregon Resident
Laurels Scholarship recipients have an average GPA between 3.64 and 3.90, SAT score between 1140 and 1260, and an overall average ACT score of 26.
Renewable up to four years. Automatic consideration upon applying for admission to the university.


Churchill Scholarship 

Amount: $1,500/yr
Requirements: Oregon Resident
Churchill Scholarship recipients have an average GPA between 3.48 and 3.85, SAT score between 1010 and 1150, and an overall average ACT score of 25.
Renewable up to four years. Automatic consideration upon applying for admission to the university.


Provost Scholarship 

Amount: $1,000/yr
Requirements: Oregon Resident
Provost's Scholarship recipients have an average GPA between 3.25 and 3.65, SAT score between 950 and 1100, and an overall average ACT score of 23.
Renewable up to four years. Automatic consideration upon applying for admission to the university.


Southern Online Scholarship Application (SOSA)

Amount:  Varies
The Southern Online Scholarship Application is a general scholarship application with over 80 scholarships, available only to new and current SOU students. Must be admitted to SOU to be considered for the SOSA.
Deadline:  March 1st.


Diversity Scholarship

Amount: Up to $5,000/yr
Requirements: Awarded to students whose ethnic and cultural backgrounds and/or experiences contribute to the diversity of SOU. Must complete the SOSA.

Amount: Varies

Out-of-State Scholarships

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

Amount: Approximately $11,000/yr
Available to new incoming freshman and transfer students. Student must be a resident of: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming. Renewable up to four years. Automatic consideration upon applying for admission to the university.

Please submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for full scholarship consideration. Some scholarships are mutually exclusive.
