To apply for Federal Financial Aid, you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). There are two ways to file this application.
- The FAFSA may be completed on the web at www.fafsa.gov. You may electronically sign the FAFSA or the Renewal FAFSA by requesting a pin number at www.pin.ed.gov. Parents of dependent students may also apply for a PIN at the same site and sign the FAFSA electronically.
- The paper application can be printed out from the FAFSA web site under "Complete a PDF FAFSA" section. The application is filled out and mailed to the Federal Processor.
If you are interested in attending Southern Oregon University, you must list SOU's school code 003219 on the FAFSA. If SOU is listed as a school you plan to attend, your information is transmitted electronically from the Federal Processor to SOU. Up to ten schools can be listed on the FAFSA.
When analyzing the FAFSA, the Federal Processor takes into consideration family size, basic living expenses, income, assets, and resources. Additional documents may be requested by the Financial Aid Office in order to determine your aid eligibility. Provide these documents promptly in order to avoid delay. If your family or financial situation changes after you have filed your FAFSA, report these changes to the Enrollment Services Center.
It is your responsibility to complete the application correctly, provide all additional required documents, and read the financial aid materials.
