Offered as an Academic Certification
The Certificate in Sound Design provides students with a focused curriculum in sound design theory and practice. Students engage in technical, cultural, and interdisciplinary contexts for sound and build experience creating sound-based projects for a variety of media and end-use applications.
The certificate is offered both for degree-seeking students looking to expand their knowledge of sound and for non-degree seeking students looking for a stand-alone program. Coursework is drawn from offerings in Emerging Media and Digital Art, Music, Theatre, and Digital Cinema.

Degree Fit
Program Preparation
Biology is a diverse discipline offering an array of different specialty areas. Students with a diverse set of interests are drawn to the Biology major, sharing a deep curiosity t of how the natural world works. Our students learn to apply the core principles of biological science when working to solve human and environmental problems.
Degree Roadmap
Biology majors begin by taking introductory biology and chemistry course sequences, ideally in their first year. All biology majors move on to a series of upper division core courses in Genetics, Physiology, Ecology, Evolution, and Cell Biology, followed by their choice of upper division elective courses in their areas of interest. Virtually all biology courses include a laboratory or field component to provide students with extensive hands-on experience with procedures and equipment.
Capstone
The Certificate in Sound Design is a great way to add on to an existing major in arts and media. It can also be the perfect outlet for your creativity regardless of major. The certificate program will prepare you for job opportunities in a wide range of media production.
