Course Overview

This class introduces the profession and skill set of organizational coaching, particularly as it applies to improving performance and commitment of employees or members of organizations. Concepts and basic skills are introduced through lecture and are followed by experiential activities to give participants the opportunity to "try out" and experience the skills in action. The goals of this introductory workshop are to provide:

  1. An overview of the basic philosophy and skills of coaching.
  2. Increased understanding of how coaching can:
    1. Facilitate transformation of minimal performance into superior performance, and
    2. Reduce employee turnover and increase satisfaction.
  3. An appreciation of the importance of various forms of assessments.
  4. Increased understanding of some causes of emotions and motivations that can hinder or enhance top performance.
