PEAK (Professional Experience, Achievement, and Knowledge) jobs are student employment opportunities designed with you in mind. A PEAK job will help you hone your application skills, connect you with faculty, staff, and other students, give you the opportunity to develop and use professional skills, and help you explore careers of interest, all without leaving the SOU campus. Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions that will help you better understand the PEAK Jobs Program.

Who is eligible to apply for PEAK jobs?

All SOU students who are enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours per quarter) are eligible to apply for PEAK jobs. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply for PEAK positions.

How do I apply for a PEAK job?

All PEAK jobs are listed in CareerLink. To register for an account, or to log in, click HERE. From your home page, type "PEAK" into the search bar at the top of the screen. All PEAK positions should require a cover letter and a resume, and some may require additional documents. No PEAK job will be offered without first requiring at least on interview.

How much do PEAK jobs pay?

PEAK jobs pay between $10 and $12 an hour.

How many hours per week do PEAK employees work?

PEAK jobs range from 8-20 hours per week.

Are PEAK jobs Work Study positions?

No. PEAK jobs are Non-Work Study positions.

Can students hold more than one PEAK job?

Students may have more than one job on campus, including more than one PEAK job, as long as they are not working more than 20 hours per week while school is in session.

How often are new PEAK jobs posted?

PEAK jobs can become available throughout the schoolyear. However, the majority of PEAK employees will be hired at the beginning of Fall Quarter.
