Students who wish to take upper division (300-level or above) courses in Business Administration must first be admitted to the School of Business. (For exceptions, see course descriptions or ask your advisor.)  Please see the list of requirements below:

BS/BA in Business Administration Prerequisites

  1. SOU’s University Studies Requirements, Oregon Block Transfer Degree, or the CSU or IGETC in California.
  2. Completion of the following lower division prerequisite courses:
  • Mth 243 Elementary Statistics (4 cr) 
  • Additional 4 credits in mathematics above the level of Intermediate Algebra
  • Econ 201 Principles of Microeconomics (4 cr)
  • Econ 202 Principles of Macroeconomics (4 cr)
  • BA 131 Business Computer Applications (4 cr) 
  • BA 100 Orientation to the School of Business (1 crt)
  • BA 211 Financial Accounting  (4 cr)    (prereq: BA 131) 
  • BA 213 Managerial Accounting (4 cr) (prereq: BA 211) 
  • BA 226 Business Law (4 cr)
  • BA 282 Applied Business Statistics (4 cr) (prereq: Mth 243) 

BAS in Management Prerequisites:

BAS in Management - Hospitality Option Prerequisites:

  1. SOU’s University Studies Requirements, Oregon Block Transfer Degree, or the CSU or IGETC in California.
  2. Completion of the following lower division prerequisite courses:
  • Mth 243 Elementary Statistics (4 cr)
  • Econ 201 Principles of Microeconomics (4 cr) 
  • Econ 202 Principles of Macroeconomics (4 cr)
  • BA 100 Orientation to the School of Business (1 cr)
  • BA 131 Business Computer Applications (4 cr)  (Beginning 2013-14 catalog)
  • BA 208 Hospitality Essential Skills (4 cr)
  • BA 211 Financial Accounting (4 cr) (prereq: BA 131) 
  • BA 213 Managerial Accounting (4 cr) (prereq: BA 211)  (Only 2012-13 catalog)

Note:  All courses with a Business Administration prefix (BA) must be taken for a grade. Pass/No Pass is not acceptable.

Transfer Students:  If you are a transfer student or would like to take some of your lower divison coursework through a community college, please visit our transfer student website.  You can look up courses at the community college to make sure they will transfer to SOU, or you can follow a transfer guide if one has been established for your school.
