Hi, I'm Kate Hemsoth. I graduated from SOU in spring 2010 with my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Development. I can picture myself as a student at this time last year in the capstone course learning about electronic portfolios and beginning to create my own. Now as a college graduate I have been able to take what I have learned and use my knowledge when working with children.
I am employed at a non-profit organization called the Family Relief Nursery. Their mission is - Strengthening Families and Building Community and their goals are to provide therapeutic classes, parent education, and support programs to prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening families under stress.
I am employed as an assistant in the preschool classroom three days a week and I am also qualified to substitute for other teachers and assistants in other classrooms. There is also a Family Relief Nursery in Drain, Oregon, and I have substituted there once. I have also been hired to provide childcare for weekly parent trainings held at the Family Relief Nursery.
