Students awarded a new Federal Perkins Loan must complete two steps in order to receive the loan; sign a Master Promissory Note and complete Entrance Counseling. Your financial aid award notification from the SOU Enrollment Services Center will indicate whether you have been awarded a Federal Perkins loan. Once you have received your aid offer and accepted the Perkins loan, you can electronically sign your Masters Promissory Note using an electronic signature. You will also have the option to print your Promissory Note, sign it and return it to your lending institution. You will need to have your FAFSA PIN to access your Promissory Note. This PIN would have been mailed to you by the Federal Student Aid Programs either before or after you completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), depending on whether or not you e-filed your FAFSA. You can go to www.pin.ed.gov and request a duplicate PIN if you have lost yours. The PIN will take up to 3 days by email, or 7-10 days to have it mailed to you.
If you decide to print the Promissory Note (either to sign and mail or to have a copy of your electronic promissory note) please disable any pop up blocking software you are using. Master Promissory Notes and Entrance Counseling are available to students at https://www.ecsi.net/prom2D. Please contact ECSI or the Long Term Loan Office with any questions regarding this process.
