Admission Requirments

To be admitted to SOU as an international transfer student, you will need to have the following qualifications:

  1. 2.25 Overall Transfer GPA with at least 1 year of university/college level coursework equivalent to 36 quarter credit hours or 24 semester credit hours.
  2. 68 TOEFL IBT or 5.5 IELTS, or complete the equivalent of SOU's English Composition* and English Composition I** with a B- grade or higher. Students with a completed Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science Degree are exempt from TOEFL/IELTS.

 

Application Instructions

To apply to SOU, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Fill out the Online International Application and pay the $60 Application Fee.
  2. Submit your official transcripts to the SOU Office of Admissions.
  3. Send your official TOEFL or IELTS scores.

 

Required Transfer Forms

After you have been admitted to SOU, you are required to submit the following forms in order to transfer your SEVIS record to SOU and receive your SOU I-20 Form:

  1. Transfer Form.
  2. Financial Certification Form
  3. SEVIS Information Form.

**WR 121 - English Composition – I (4 credits)
Teaches rhetoric, the writing process, and critical reading and
thinking at the college level. Through formal and informal writing the
student will identify and use a variety of rhetorical strategies,
selecting ones appropriate to a given writing situation and intended
audience. Fundamental skills in planning, drafting, revising, and
editing lead to essays with focused and argumentative claims, backed
by logical reasoning and researched evidence.

*WR 122 - English Composition (4 credits)
Focuses on close reading, organization, and effective expression in
academic essays, concentrating primarily on argumentation.
Prerequisite(s): WR 121.
