Connecting a Notebook Computer to the Campus Network
There are several ways to connect to the Campus Network while on campus: Network port Using a network patch cable you can connect your notebook to an available network port. Most offices on campus have network ports although they might not be active. You can call the Faculty and Staff HelpDesk at 2-6962 to request that a network port be activeated. Dial-up In rooms where an Network port isn't available you may be able to use a Dial-up Networking connection. This would require a usable telephone outlet. See the sections elsewhere on the Remote and Mobile computing web site for more information about Dial-up Networking. Wireless Network Click this link to learn more about Wireless Networking at SOU
