Department of Performing Arts: Music
The Southern Oregon University Department of Performing Arts presents the Brass Ensemble in concert on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 3:00 p.m. in the SOU Music Recital Hall. The concert, titled “Holiday Brass,” will feature four brass consorts: the SOU Student Brass Quintet, SOU Horn Quintet, SOU Brass Trio and a newly formed 15-piece large brass ensemble.
Music selections include Giovanni Gabrieli’s “Canzon septimi toni No. 1,” Ian McDougall’s “Bells,” and Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Little Fugue in G Minor.” The large brass ensemble will perform “Sussex Mummers Christmas Carol,” “I wonder as I Wander,” “Carol of the Bells” and Gordon Emerson’s “An Album of Christmas.” The ensemble consorts are under the direction of Dr. Cynthia Hutton, Associate Professor of Music at Southern Oregon University.
Tickets are $5 for general admission. Admission for full-time students at any educational institution is free. The Performing Arts Box Office is located in the Theatre Arts Building lobby. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and two hours prior to each performance.
