Alexander Tutunov is widely recognized as one of the most outstanding virtuosos of the former Soviet Union. First Prize winner of the Belarusian National Piano Competition and winner of the Russian National Piano Competition, Tutunov's playing was described by Soviet Culture, Moscow, as "exhilarating and inspired, and which demonstrated a unique talent".

Dr. Tutunov maintains a busy performing schedule in Europe, China, Mexico, and the United States as a recitalist, soloist with orchestra, and on radio and television. Dr. Tutunov is also in demand as an adjudicator for piano competitions.

Tutunov's recording of the Abeliovich Piano Concerto was featured as part of the Emmy award winning soundtrack for the History Channel documentary, Russia: Land of Tsars, and his CD of the Tchaikovsky Concert Fantasy with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra was produced in January 2008. Other recordings include: Concerto for Piano & Orchestra by Peter Sacco with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra (Albany Records) and the solo piano works of Lev Abeliovich Sonatas & Frescoes, Trio, Songs (Altarus Records).

Tutunov graduated magna cum laude from the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory (studies with Anna Artobolevskaya and Lev Naumov) and University of North Texas (piano studies with Joseph Banowetz). Awarded his doctoral diploma with honors in concert performance from the Belarusian State Conservatory, Dr. Tutunov has taught at the Minsk College of Music, the University of North Texas, and Illinois Wesleyan University.

Alexander Tutunov now lives in Ashland, where he is Professor of Piano and Artist in Residence at Southern Oregon University. A successful piano pedagogue, he continues to prepare award-winning students. Dr. Tutunov is Artist in Residence at the University of Alaska Southeast, Artistic director of the SOU International Piano Institute, and was recently named the Director of the Chinese-American International Piano Institute in Chengdu, China.

Jeff Richmond is recognized as a significant voice in modern jazz composition and performance education. Richmond earned his Bachelor of Music degree (magna cum laude) in composition at the University of South Florida-Tampa, where he studied composition with Guggenheim Fellow Chuck Owen and Paul Reller and jazz performance with Tom Brantley, Jay Coble, and Jack Wilkins. He received his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in composition with a cognate in jazz studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied composition with Eric Richards, Randy Snyder, and Tyler White, and jazz performance with Paul Haar, Peter Bouffard, Stefon Harris, and Darryl White.

Richmond's most recent academic conference appearances have been as a featured speaker at the 2008 and 2010 World Conferences of the International Society for Music Education (the music education arm of UNESCO) in Bologna, Italy and Beijing, China, respectively, where he addressed the issues related to studio composition pedagogy in the ‘Third Stream.’ He also served as the featured clinician for 2010 North Carolina All-State Jazz Directors’ Clinic and the 2010 All-State Jazz Big Band Reading Session.

Richmond’s compositions are published by the University of Northern Colorado’s UNC Jazz Press [Greeley, CO], System Blue Publications [Concord, CA], Row Loff Productions [Nashville, TN], Dorn Publications [Medville, MA], and Walrus Music Publishing [Pismo Beach, CA], with more than 30 works published. Richmond has actively led his own jazz groups, including the Jeff Richmond Jazz Orchestra, a 17 piece big band dedicated to his own compositions. Recordings of this band are available for download on Richmond’s website and scores and parts can be purchased through major music distributors around the country. More recently, Richmond has focused on small group writing.

Richmond’s jazz trumpeting focuses on hard-bop, fusion, and lead trumpet performance. He frequents the solo chair of the Asheville Jazz Orchestra and performs regularly around the Carolinas. He has also performed with musical greats - Michael Abene, the Carolina Brass, Tom Brantley, Donald Brown, Jon Faddis, Gary Foster, Stefon Harris, Steve Houghton, Dave Liebman, Paul McKee, Michael Philip Mossman, LaRue Nickelson, John Riley, the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra (opened), Sam Rivers, The Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra (opened), Jiggs Whigham, Jack Wilkins, and others. Dr. Vicki Purslow (born 1963) is an American saxophonist and arranger. She has played with Mel Torme, Joe Williams, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Mary Wilson, The Funk Brothers, and various other bands. Presently, she is tenor saxophonist with the Mazama Saxophone Quartet.

Purslow was born in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began studying guitar from Joe Bruhl at age 7. At age 11 she began learning the tenor saxophone, and two years later the clarinet. Purslow was always interested in arranging, starting with vocal jazz arrangements inspired by the Manhattan Transfer. In 1985, after graduating from the University of Pacific Conservatory of Music, she started her professional career as a middle school teacher, and later as a college band director. Purslow is now an associate professor of music at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon.

A published arranger, her works include pieces for saxophone and clarinet ensembles of all sizes and ability levels. She frequently arranges for the Siskiyou Saxophone Orchestra, conducted by Professor Rhett Bender of Southern Oregon University; the University of West Georgia Saxophone Ensemble, conducted by Professor John Bluel; and Sichuan Conservatory of Music’s saxophone ensembles, conducted by Associate Professor Yusheng Li. Her arrangements, most of which are published by Watchdog Music Publishers, have enjoyed international debuts in Ashland, Oregon; Carrollton, Georgia; Paris, France; and Shanghai, China. Purslow also composed an original score for the play Bone: Dying Into Life.

Dr. Evans has played many recitals throughout the United States including recitals for northwest and southwest regional conventions of the American Guild of Organists and the Ninth International Summer Organ Festival in Balboa Park, San Diego. Her workshop presentation topics have included the organ music of Buxtehude, music for manuals, new organ music, conducting from the console, and choral literature.

She is the author of Sacred Cantatas, an annotated bibliography of choral works as well as author of various articles and reviews in The American Organist and The Diapason. In 2000 she presented three different all-Bach recitals on three organs in the Rogue Valley to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Bach's death.

In addition to her position at SOU, she is Music Director at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Medford where she conducts two choirs and plays three services every week and manages a concert series.

Terry Longshore is active as a performer, composer, and educator of percussion and has performed throughout the U.S. as well as in Sweden, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, India, and the U.K. He performs regularly as a soloist and with percussion duo Skin & Bones, multi-media quintet Sonoluminescence, flute/percussion duo Caballito Negro, and flamenco ensemble Alba Flamenca. Major festivals Longshore has performed at include the Bang on a Can Festival in New York City, the Britt Classical Festival, the Festival of New American Music, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Green Umbrella Series, the Cabrillo Music Festival, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the Cycle of Percussion at the National Center of the Arts in Mexico City. He can be heard on numerous CD and motion picture recordings and has premiered many compositions for solo percussion, chamber ensemble, and symphony orchestra.

Longshore holds bachelor's degrees from the California State University at Fresno and Sacramento. He earned the master's and doctoral degrees in contemporary music performance from the University of California, San Diego where he studied under percussion virtuoso Steven Schick. Longshore studied tabla with Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri at the Ali Akbar College of Music and has undertaken additional studies in Indian classical music with sitar virtuoso Kartik Seshadri.
