SOU Receives $250,000 Emergency Management Grant
August 04, 2009
Southern Oregon University (SOU) is one of 20 colleges and universities across the country to receive a federal grant to improve emergency management. The $250,000 grant will be used for training, coordination of planning and communication, collaboration with other emergency agencies and development of a plan to prepare SOU for a possible infectious disease outbreak such as pandemic influenza.
"This is a great opportunity to work with other emergency agencies in the Rogue Valley and improve our emergency preparedness," says SOU Vice-President for Finance and Administration Craig Morris. "We appreciate the efforts of Senator Ron Wyden in making this grant possible."
The grant will also pay for two part-time, temporary positions at SOU. The grant period is July 1, 2009, through December 31, 2010.
