SOU Offers Options to High School Students
August 26, 2009
Southern Oregon University (SOU) has a solution for southern Oregon high school students facing limited class choices due to state budget cuts; enroll early in college. "If they can't get the classes they want at their high school, they could get a jump start on college and take classes at SOU," says SOU Director of Pre-College and Youth Programs Carol Jensen. "Even better, they can enroll for a discount. Tuition is only $60 per credit—a savings of up to 60-percent of the regular tuition rate!"
The early entry program, offered for juniors and seniors, includes 100- and 200-level courses. Students attend classes at SOU’s campuses in Ashland and Medford. Jensen says the most popular areas of study for high school students enrolled at SOU are math and foreign languages. For a complete list of classes available to early entry students, visit sou.edu/youth. Click on Early Entry. For more information call 541-552-6452.
High school students intending to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for college entry can attend SAT prep classes in both Ashland and Medford beginning in October. The 8-session program is offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and costs $169. For more information, visit sou.edu/youth. Registration for fall non-credit classes is now underway.
