OLLI Enriches Your Life, Your Legacy Enriches OLLI.
The OLLI Legacy Fund is a planned giving program designed to receive and administer your bequest made through your estate plan by a provision in your will or trust or made as a current gift. The OLLI Council makes all decisions, in full compliance with the wishes and instructions of the donor, regarding the use and application of income and earnings upon receipt from the SOU Foundation.
The OLLI Legacy Fund is administered by the Southern Oregon University Foundation, chartered in 1959 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable corporation affiliated with the University. All investment activities are administered by the SOU Foundation for OLLI in accordance with standard accounting principles and tax rules. All decisions regarding the use or application of funds are made by the OLLI Council. Currently, the SOU Foundation assesses an administrative fee of 1½% annually on the market value of all endowed funds. A one-time charge of 3% is assessed upon any gift in the month of its receipt. Your gift to the OLLI Annual Fund will help ensure that we have the funds needed to implement programs that enhance the classroom experience and address other program-related needs.
For example, gifts to the Annual Fund make it possible for OLLI to:
Membership fees cover only a portion of the amount OLLI needs to operate. Your contribution means that yearly membership dues can be kept low, scholarships to those in need can be awarded, and the program infrastructure can grow as the demands of growth require. Although it accounts for a relatively small percentage of the overall budget, the Annual Fund plays an important role in keeping the budget in balance; it is a powerful tool that strengthens OLLI’s financial base.
OLLI encourages all current members to participate in the Annual Fund. Every year, the OLLI Council sets a fundraising dollar goal, together with a membership participation goal. All contributors are recognized in a LINK publication without reference to the amount of the gift. The total number of donors indicates the percentage of the membership that supports the OLLI commitment to quality classes at low cost.
OLLI at SOU actively pursues fundraising several times during the academic year, starting with fall term registration and including special events. (For more information, see the “Special Events - Fundraisers” page.)
