Campus Public Safety
The contiguous campus consists of sixteen resident halls and twenty-seven buildings located on approximately 160 acres. Because the grounds are expansive, it is not possible to provide uniformly bright lighting across the campus while still conserving energy. However, all major thoroughfares and walks between buildings are lighted. Whenever possible, stay on lit paths when walking across campus after dark. As part of an ongoing lighting improvement program, campus administrators, staff, and student representatives participate in periodic walking surveys.
Unless required by local ordinances for noise or privacy screening, the University avoids using high solid fences, dense hedges, or tall shrubs along major walkways where they could be used for hiding places by people with criminal intent.
Promptly inform the Campus Public Safety Office of any concerns or complaints regarding lighting or safety hazards.
