Success at Southern TRiO SSS offers several free classes to students enrolled in the TRiO Student Support Services program. College Success classes have been developed to help facilitate students’ academic and personal success in college. Here is a list of a few of the course offerings:

 Freshman Focus SAS 199 (Fall Term)

Designed to help freshmen learn to succeed academically and personally. Students will participate in class activities designed to address issues specific to incoming freshmen. Students will also heighten understanding of themselves as learners by clarifying academic goals, improving time management skills, study skills, financial planning, collaborative skills, and assessment.

 

Academic Development SAS 103 (Winter, and Spring Terms)

The class provides a dual seminar/study class consisting of development seminars designed to understand and eliminate barriers to success. The course also provides a structured setting in which students may access professional and/or tutoring support to enhance their academic skills and performance.

 

Sophomore/Junior Achievement SAS 199 ( Fall Term)

Designed to address academic, career, relational and economic issues specific to students holding sophomore standing. The course comprises of seminars and in-class work that will result in a completion of a body of work that can be used throughout the year to enhance and support academic and personal success.

 

Mastering Your Senior Year SAS 199 ( Fall Term)

Designed to address academic, career, relational and economic issues specific to students holding senior standing. The course comprises of seminars and in-class work that will result in a completion of a body of work that can be used throughout the year to enhance and support academic and personal success.
