Tyler Burrell (1993), Actor
Ty Burrell received the 2011 Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his role as Phil Dunphy in the Emmy-winning outstanding comedy series Modern Family.
Prior to this role, he played Gary Crezyzewski in FOX's Back to You sitcom. The Los Angeles Daily News described Burrell's performance in the "Fish Story" episode as "a concise masterpiece of both verbal and physical humor."
He played Dr. Samson in The Incredible Hulk (2008) and appeared in National Treasure II: Book of Secrets (2007), Friends with Money (2006), In Good Company (2004) and Black Hawk Down (2001).
Burrell played Lennox in William Shakespeare's Macbeth at the Music Box Theater on Broadway in 2000. He appeared as Burton in Lanford Wilson's Burn This opposite Edward Norton, Catherine Keener and Dallas Roberts at the Signature Theater Company in New York City in 2002. In 2004, he played Buckingham in William Shakespeare's Richard III at The Public Theatre. Then in 2006, he played Tom in Paul Weitz' Show People at the Second Stage Theatre and Sam in Caryl Churchill's Drunk Enough to Say I Love You at the Royal Court Theatre in London.
He has a MFA degree from Penn State University.
