Esports is a new and burgeoning billion-dollar industry. The gaming industry altogether is projected to supersede $3 billion by 2025. The opportunity truly is ripe. Southern Oregon University is perfectly positioned, as an innovative liberal arts school in the western U.S., to envision, execute, and live into some of the many opportunities that undoubtedly surround the Esports industry as a whole.
As an educational service provider, SOU offers this unique minor that can help bolster the knowledge base of those wanting to enter into the ever-widening world Esports. Further, Esports, as an industry, is looking for a knowledgeable employee base that understands the flexible nature of Esports and the countless needs that surround it. Lastly, SOU is also sporting a competitive team through which many of our students participate.

This interdisciplinary minor has been designed for those interested in the gaming industry and how they might play an integral part.
Degree Roadmap
In this minor you will learn about the rich and surprising history of video gaming. Here you will also learn about the socio-economic, cultural, ethical and political impacts of gaming altogether.
