Offered as an Academic Certification
This certificate provides an introductory foundation in teaching English Language Arts for students who are interested in teaching in formal and informal settings. The certificate is recommended for students who plan to apply to teaching-licensure programs such as SOU’s Master of Arts in Teaching program. This certificate pairs easily with the certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
The Certificate in Foundations of Teaching English Language Arts is open to students in all majors, including English, who are interested in teaching English in formal or informal settings.
The Certificate in Foundations of Teaching English Language Arts consists of 32 credits:
English faculty advisors are available to help you plan the best way to integrate this certificate into your major. Most students complete this certificate over two or three academic years, while working on their major in any subject area.
