SOU will not be testing all students. The National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as Jackson County Public Health do not recommend universal testing of students. Universal testing has not shown to improve any additional reduction of transmission beyond what prevention measures (e.g. social distancing, cloth face coverings, hand washing, and enhanced cleaning) provide. The campus is partnering with Valley Immediate Care to conduct COVID testing for students who are experiencing symptoms and/or have been in recent contact with an individual who may have tested positive. Students will be referred to Valley Immediate Care for testing.
