Reporting Options
At Southern Oregon University, you have options for disclosing your experience.
- You may disclose your experience to the university by reporting your concern directly to the Office of Equity Grievance and Title IX. If you do so, the Title IX Coordinator or a member of the Equity Grievance/Title IX team will assist you through the process. You can report your experience to the University using the Discrimination, Harassment & Sexual Misconduct Reporting Form. Employees are required to report information disclosed to them and should use this form to do so.
- You may report your concern anonymously to the Office of Equity Grievance and Title IX using the Discrimination, Harassment & Sexual Misconduct Reporting Form. Anonymous reports will be documented, but the Office’s ability to respond to such reports may be limited. Employees who become aware of a concern involving discrimination, harassment, or sexual misconduct must report that information. The only exception is for employees who have been designated as confidential employees.
- You may also choose to make a confidential disclosure to confidential resources.
- Anyone can also make a report to local law enforcement by calling 911 or visiting reportingoptions.org.
Equity Grievance Panel Members
A group of specially trained SOU employees serve as Equity Grievance Panel Members. They serve on panels when there is a hearing related to any potential violations of the Equal Opportunity, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct Policy (GEN.009). There is a yearly training that all Equity Grievance Panel Members complete. Equity Grievance Panel Members will also serve on appeal panels. For each hearing or appeal EGP members are selected by the Director of Equity Grievance/Title IX Coordinator. All EGP members as well as involved parties will have the opportunity to request a change of panelist if there is a conflict of interest for the EFP member.
Training for Equity Grievance Team Members
All members of the Equity Grievance team participate in yearly training and policy review led by the Director of Equity Grievance/Title IX Coordinator. In addition members of the Equity Team have participated in trainings from ATIXA.
