The OLLI at SOU Travel Pilot Project Team is pleased to continue offering travel opportunities. In the first half of 2025, we featured four local/regional trips curated with Ashland’s Main Street Tours and two domestic trips with Collette Travel and Tours. See below for our exciting adventures in 2025 and 2026!
Local/Regional Trips

Popular OLLI at SOU instructor Dan Dawson has partnered with NW Touring to bring a wine experience like no other. This package includes three wine-focused lectures with Dan in October preceding the excursion. Travel to and from Walla Walla is participants’ responsibility. Klamath Basin Guided Birding and Wildlife Tour – November 15, 2025
Travel with ROGUETROTTER, Southern Oregon’s go-to bird watching tour company for avian enthusiasts and wildlife/landscape photographers. Destinations include Lilli Glen, Howard Prairie Lake, Lake of the Woods, Rocky Point Boat Launch, Kimball State Rec. Area, Eagle Ridge and Shoalwater Bay in the Klamath Basin. This one day tour offers a full range of the ecosystems and elevations of Southern Oregon! Tour guide is Brandon Breen — ornithologist and writer who has lived in Ashland since 2012. Brandon has worked on numerous avian research projects throughout the USA and abroad. Brandon leads backpacking and birding trips for the Sierra Club, Rogue Valley Audubon Society and ROGUETROTTER Tour Co.
$155 per person (+$25 if a box lunch is requested). Travel insurance not included. Reservations must be made online via credit/debit card. Reservation deadline is November 7, 2025.
Shore Acres Holiday Lights and Bandon Coast | December 6-7, 2025
Shore Acres Holiday Lights and Bandon Coast with ROGUETROTTER – December 6-7, 2025 (2 days / 1 night)
Celebrate the season with a festive two-day journey along Oregon’s southern coast. This small-group tour follows the scenic Coquille River Highway to Bandon, with highlights including the Bandon History Museum, Coquille River Lighthouse and the dazzling Shore Acres Holiday Lights Show. Guests will enjoy dinner at 7 Devils Brewing Co., plus time for beachcombing and tide pool exploration before returning. Overnight accommodations are at the Historic Windemere Lodge. OLLI at SOU is partnering with our friends from OLLI at Boise State University for a unforgettable excursion to Africa with Collette Travel–replete with eight African safaris! Highlights include Chobe National Park, Pilanesberg National Park, a braii barbeque dinner on the Chobe riverbank, Cape Winelands, Cape Town and Table Mountain. Start the excursion in Johannesburg, with two days at Victoria Falls. Enjoy two more nights at a marina lodge in Chobe before traveling to separate game reserves.
