Workday Student
Workday Student streamlines students’ academic experience, integrating key functions in one up-to-date system. Academic planning, registration, grades, transcripts, financial aid and student financial information will all be managed in Workday beginning this fall.
IMPORTANT: We will continue to use “legacy” systems (DegreeWorks and Student Registration & Planning) for any student-related processes for winter, spring and summer terms:
All of those processes will be shifted to Workday in the fall. See the illustration below for details.
Students began orientation in early April, in preparation for fall advising and registration. All students have been asked to complete an onboarding process that will ensure that their personal information is correctly recorded in Workday. Step-by-step guides and videos are available here to help students get familiar with the new system.
Students, faculty and staff who recently “test drove” the system found that it was generally easy to navigate and allowed students greater scope in managing their academic experience.
Your academic records will not be complete—don’t panic! We will continue to import information into Workday throughout spring and summer terms and our current system will remain available to us until June 2027.
The new system won’t be perfect. Despite extensive testing and the best efforts of an incredibly dedicated team, a system change of this magnitude will need to be fine-tuned as we get underway. Some processes and data will be added over time as testing is completed.
Dedicated support teams are available to assist students, and while not every concern can be resolved immediately, please know that any problems will be addressed as quickly and thoughtfully as possible.
Everyone’s patience and feedback will be key to making this change successful. Once fully implemented, Workday will deliver a modern, connected, and user-friendly student experience.
For the next six months, we’ll be working in two systems: Banner for what is happening in the moment and Workday for what will be happening in the fall.
Any changes that need to be made in student records should be made in Banner until all student data has been completely transferred to Workday in the fall.
We will continue to import data from Banner and DegreeWorks into Workday throughout the summer. Until the last data has been transferred, Banner will remain the repository of record for student information. Any changes to student academic records (changes of major, addition of minors or certificates, etc.) should continue to be made in Banner to avoid having updates overwritten by subsequent data imports.
Here’s what student interactions look like until Workday implementation is complete:
