Spanish Language and Culture BA, Certificate
This interdisciplinary certificate gives educators the tools they need to communicate with Spanish-speaking students, parents and community members in linguistically and culturally competent ways.
For current or aspiring educators, this certificate helps students develop an advanced level of Spanish communication skills in contexts relevant to education, while also promoting critical thinking and cultural competence for working with Latinx and Spanish-speaking communities.
Every Spanish & Latinx Studies for Educators student will take courses in Spanish language, linguistics, language education, and their choice of cultural studies electives. These courses are specialized to broaden their understanding of the complexity of the Spanish-speaking world while sharpening their critical thinking skills related to current events, artistic contributions, and the history of Spain, Latin America, and Latinx communities in the US.
