Spanish & Latinx Studies for Health Professions, Certificate
This interdisciplinary certificate gives health care professionals the tools they need to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients in linguistically and culturally competent ways.
For current or aspiring health care professionals, this certificate helps students develop an advanced level of Spanish communication skills in contexts relevant to health care, while also promoting critical thinking and cultural competence for working with Latinx and Spanish-speaking patients and community members.
Every Spanish & Latinx Studies for Health Professions student will take specialized courses in Spanish for Health Care, including Medical Spanish for Front Office Personnel, Medical Spanish for Clinical Staff, and Spanish Medical Terminology for Health Care Providers, and their choice of cultural studies electives designed to broaden their understanding of the Spanish-speaking communities they work with.
