People are living longer than ever before and globally, populations are aging as well. In the US, the population of older adults is becoming more diverse. With this demographic shift, Baby Boomers are living longer and as such, aging healthy, becomes an even more important topic. There has been an increase in the demand for qualified graduates with an aging studies background to pursue career opportunities to serve the growing aging population. In the Aging Studies concentration, students explore the aging process of various groups and populations. Physiological changes, stereotypes, social roles, economic and health issues are among the foundational topics examined in this concentration.
