The Biomedical Sciences program a tailored program for professional graduate programming in medicine, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant studies, chiropractic, and other allied health professions, as well as careers in medical and clinical laboratory science, biomedical technology, and biomedical research.

The Ecology and Conservation program equips students with the knowledge and skills to address ecological questions and conservation issues both locally and globally. Field-based courses provide hands-on experience, while taking advantage of the unique habitats and organisms found within the Klamath-Siskiyou Ecoregion, a recognized area for biological diversity.

The Biology Certificate is for those students majoring in other areas who wish to gain a deeper understanding of biology beyond the introductory level support their career goals. SOU provides flexibility in the upper division courses for students to meet the minor requirements, allowing them to customize their curriculum to specific interests and needs.

A Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), also sometimes called a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), is a certified professional scientist whose primary role is performing laboratory tests, analyzing results, and communicating findings to assist in diagnosing and managing diseases. Medical Laboratory Scientists run tests in areas such as chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, and molecular biology.

A Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed medical professional who works in collaboration with physicians to provide direct patient care. PAs work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and private practices, and perform a wide range of medical tasks. A Chiropractor is a healthcare professional who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. They use manual therapies, such as spinal adjustments, to improve joint mobility, reduce pain, and restore function.

A Dentist is a licensed medical professional who possesses expertise in oral health and provides direct patient care. Dentists are trained to diagnose, treat, and provide preventative oral care. Dentists may specialize in areas related to oral health, such as oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, or endodontics. An Optometrist is a licensed medical professional who specializes in eye and vision health and provides direct patient care. Optometrists are trained to perform comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and manage vision problems and other eye conditions, and prescribe corrective lenses.

Physicians are trained to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases and injuries. Physicians specialize in various areas of medicine, such as surgery, anesthesiology, pediatrics, internal medicine, psychiatry, and obstetrics and gynecology.

The Wildlife Ecology and Conservation certificate offers a comprehensive pathway for students passionate about protecting and managing wildlife populations and their habitats in an era of environmental change. This interdisciplinary program combines scientific training in wildlife biology and ecology with crucial policy and technological skills needed for modern conservation work.
