Communication Studies Minor Degree: Now Offered Fully Online!
Starting in 2019, SOU students can complete a minor in Communication Studies fully online! These online courses provide flexibility as you complete your SOU degree, while also helping you to navigate your career and family life.
Even when taught online, students of Communication learn by doing. Our online coursework entails practical application of communication skills, along with scholarly learning, personal introspection, and technology skills relevant to today’s digital world. For majors in business, STEM, education or the creative arts, Communication Studies makes a great compliment as a minor.
“You will learn how to interact one-on-one with others, show teamwork in small groups, collaborate across intercultural differences, read and send nonverbal cues, manage conflicts, and make persuasive public presentations,” said Communication professor Alena Ruggerio. “These skills appeal to employers, and also enhance personal relationships for a lifetime.”
Requirements for the Communication Studies minor include 28 credits of communication coursework, including 21 credits in upper-division electives, all with a cumulative GPA of 2.75.
