Meet Leila Penitusi
Native Pacific Island Honors Scholar 2024-2027
I am a proud native of American Samoa, currently a sophomore pursuing a Pre-Medical Technology major at Southern Oregon University (SOU). My ultimate ambition is to specialize in diagnostic sonography and bring my expertise back to my homeland, where access to advanced healthcare resources remains limited. I am deeply committed to addressing the medical needs of my community, particularly at our only local hospital. My decision to attend SOU was driven not just by personal goals, but by a desire to give back to my family, my village, and the island that raised me. I strive to make a meaningful impact and return home as a valuable resource to my people.
