Online Courses at SOU
Is online learning for you? Learn more about the types of distance learning courses offered by SOU and what it’s like to take online courses. While special fees apply to online courses, other fees may be waived. Support services are available for all online students and out-of-state students have special protections.
Preparing for Online Learning
Before you decide to take an online course, you need to consider if you have the necessary skills and equipment to be a successful online learner. In addition to having these skills and resources, online degree completion candidates need to have taken specific courses before applying for admission. We’ll help you determine if you are ready to enroll in an online program.
Applying to SOU
Look here for information on how to apply to SOU and obtain financial aid. If you do not intend to formally apply for admission, we have instructions for registering for classes with non-admit status. Be sure to check out the Online Student Checklist that will guide you from the application process through your first day of class.
Enrolling in Classes
To register for courses, you will use the SOU Student Information System, SISWeb (also known as Banner Self Service). Find out when to register and get instructions for activating your student account. We’ll walk you through how to register for courses and check your account status.
Accessing Student Services
SOU offers extensive resources and services for students learning at a distance. Inside SOU is your portal for all things administrative and academic, serving as the gateway to Moodle and your campus email along with many other important campus connections. Making Payments
You’ll pay tuition and fees through Inside SOU. Once you enroll, you will automatically receive an SOU OneCard. You’ll activate this official SOU ID card to access various campus services.
Taking Your Online Course
Once you’re enrolled, you need to know how to get your textbooks and access Moodle, our online learning platform. You may need to learn about proctored exams and you definitely will want to know how to contact your instructors. Check out our tips for your success as an online learner.
