Southern Oregon University
Older Adult Living Community Provider Partnership
Southern Oregon University is interested in expanding its on-campus housing offerings to include a program and facility designed to accommodate a growing contingent of previously underserved nontraditional students: retirees.
SOU is seeking an Older Adult Living Community provider to assist in designing, constructing, managing, programming and integrating a Senior Student Housing Facility on the SOU campus. The facility will likely be located at the former site of Cascade Hall, at the intersection of Indiana Street and Oregon Street.
SOU solicited proposals from highly qualified senior housing providers in Phase I of its public process. SOU’s objectives for the Project are to increase retiree student attendance and generate long-term revenue for SOU from an underutilized campus property, and to further SOU’s vision, mission and goals by diversifying the student body, supporting SOU’s commitment to lifelong learning and making the campus a safe space for learners of all ages.

Providers
SOU is in the second stage of its process, which is to interview and choose a provider to assist SOU in achieving its goals. We have selected two providers through our public selection process to present. Please note that they will not talk about a specific design or program plan as we are still in a very preliminary stage. We invite the public to participate with campus leaders in learning more about these retirement industry leaders. We are holding a 50-minute session for each these providers to tell the community about their organizations and to answer questions. Below you can find a synopsis about each company, submit questions, and sign up to be on a list to be updated about the project and become part of SOU’s future campus community.
