CVA Galleries
The Center for the Visual Arts (CVA) Galleries at SOU allow students and community artists the opportunity to show their current work. The CVA Galleries are coordinated by a team of students.
Exhibition Proposal Applications are currently being accepted through the 2021 Fall term. Applications are accepted for all of the galleries until May 24th.
The Thorndike (in the Art Building) and Meyer Memorial (in Marion Ady) Galleries are our window-facing galleries that are accessible to the public for outdoor viewing. This application is solely for Fall Term 2021.
Have the following prepared for the Fall 2021 Application:
- Anticipated number of works
- 1000 character/75-word artist statement, speaking to the overall work
- An exhibition proposal
- Three images (.jpeg) of the artist’s work
- Dimensions of all three works
- Date created for all three works

Art Building Galleries
The Thorndike Gallery (pictured above) is designated for local and out-of-state artists, as well as student work depending on availability. Abundant wall space on the left (three large walls) and three panels on the right with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows.
The Retzlaff Gallery is the typical white cube type gallery with no windows and three blank walls for maximum hanging space. This gallery is perfect for installations and video. It is often reserved for BFA students to present their final body of work before graduating but is also used by the community and student artists depending on availability.
*Please note: The Retzlaff Gallery is currently closed until the CVA Galleries are able to reopen fully.
Marion Ady Building Galleries
The Meyer Memorial Gallery (pictured above) is designated for student work and local artists depending upon availability. Abundant wall space with natural light from the floor to ceiling windows.
The Boise Cascade, Art Program Chairs’ and Jeld-Wen galleries may be used for student artwork either in single, group or classroom exhibits. These areas are also used by local schools and selected community groups as an alternative space for their artwork, including: Best of the Best High school competition; art workshops through Extended Campus Programs; Lithia Springs Boys Home; the Empty Bowls Project.
*Please note: The Meyer Memorial Gallery is currently open. However, the Boise Cascade Gallery, Art Program Chairs’ Gallery, and Jeld-Wen Gallery are closed until the CVA Galleries are able to reopen fully.
First level:
101 – Boise Cascade Gallery (nearest elevator)
102 – Meyer Memorial Gallery (facing windows)
103 – Art Program Chairs’ Gallery (nearest print studio)
Second level:
202 – Jeld-Wen Gallery (used mostly by ongoing classes)
