Dr.Pavlina McGrady is an Associate Professor at Southern Oregon University who runs the distance in many ways. Pavlina has been a vital asset for the Sustainable Tourism Management Degree we offer by teaching sustainability first-hand, which she is passionate about. Pavlina is an active member of the community as well. Recently, Pavlina participated in the Rogue Gorge 50k race and finished second among the women.
Daybreak Racing organized the event to benefit the Siskiyou Mountain Club, which performs hundreds of hours of trail stewardship, maintaining and revitalizing many trails across Southern Oregon, including the Rogue Gorge trails. However, this is not Pavlina’s first race. She has raced four times locally in the Rogue Valley and consistently placed in the top 15 in the women’s race.
Pavlina runs the distance in everything she does as a faculty member. She teaches undergraduate courses in Sustainable Tourism and Corporate Sustainability for The School of Business. She also instructs the Research Methods course in the MBA program. She has successfully brought a lot to the table about how to flourish in these study topics.
Pavlina founded the SOU Sustainability Curriculum Initiative (SOUSCI) and has been serving on the SOU Sustainability Council. She also brings considerable knowledge and skills to the new Institute for Applied Sustainability. Pavlina is also actively helping students with job opportunities, looking for ways to progress, and continually promoting sustainability in the community.
