The Art History Minor gives students the opportunity to develop their interest in art history and theory. Explore and analyze art and creativity from a variety of perspectives through its history. Learn to think outside the box, to analyze art history from an in innovative and expansive lense of thinking.
Advanced courses feature historical and contemporary artworks which focus on activism, community engagement, globalization, sustainability, and issues of race, gender, and ethnicity. Students must meet all applicable requirements listed in the Minors section of the SOU Catalog, including the Minor residence requirement. The Art History Minor is available to all majors.
The Art History minor degree is a great program for students who have a passion for studying Art throughout the ages.
The Art History minor is designed for students who have a passion for learning about Art from the beginnings of humankind to the present modern art era. Students in this program will be challenged by radical concepts, become learned in the notable periods of art throughout the ages, and develop new ways of thinking about the world around them.
Many students are delighted to find that an Art History minor complements their major. Whether a student is getting a degree in Business, Environmental Science, or Education, an Art History degree can enhance a wide range of field-specific studies and make a graduate more agile and competitive on the job market.
