The Summer Language Institute offered by Southern Oregon University enables you to earn your Master’s degree, hone your teaching expertise, sharpen your language skills and deepen your cultural understanding while studying each summer in beautiful Angers, France or Guanajuato, Mexico.
In my first year, I became aware of many complex foreign language (FL) pedagogy challenges in my teaching context and knew I needed more up-to-date, in-depth knowledge to tackle those issues. SOU’s SLI program was ideal, because I didn’t have to give up my teaching job, and it offered a real immersion in French culture.
The Spanish Summer Language Institute had its most successful year yet! Our students love learning, and our professors work hard to engage them in wide-ranging topics.
The 2017 French Summer Language Institute had its largest group to date with 44 students in Angers this summer. Highlights included some special class guests, an excursion to a Troglodyte village, and a unique “Teaching French through Art” class taught by Angers artist Cecile Benoiton.
