EDMA 10th Anniversary: Alumni Spotlight
Tyler Jasper – 2015 Graduate, Epic Security Analyst for Asante
“I was late to the party! I didn’t decide to pursue an EMDA minor until my final year at SOU, but I’m so glad I did. The instructors helped me learn interactive media skills that mesh well with my Business degree. After I graduated and landed a job, my manager even told me I was chosen based on my experience with interactive media.
I currently work as an Epic Security Analyst for Asante. Most of my day-to-day work is more aligned with business or computer science than my EMDA toolkit. But I am constantly surprised how often those EMDA skills become relevant in a job that I otherwise wouldn’t consider an EMDA career path! I’ve been able to edit photos, videos, and even produce podcast episodes when the need arises. I’m glad that I get to leverage these niche skills in my career, and my team considers them an asset.
I highly encourage SOU students pursuing more traditional majors to consider an EMDA minor. The staff are inspiring, the students are passionate, and the skills you’ll learn are increasing in demand. I’m so grateful for the EMDA program, and I look forward to seeing it grow as an alum.”
If you are an EMDA alum who would like to share a few words (and even some art) in celebration of our 10th anniversary, contact Robert Arellano through the EMDA alumni LinkedIn group.
