Quotes & Testimonials
“Prior to entering this class, I was intimidated by grammar… to be completely honest, teaching grammar truly pulls on numerous insecurities for me. This course expanded my abilities to better articulate the reasons I believe that grammar creates a melody with words.”
“This course created an interest in looking at how ‘the pros’ do it! How do published writers, either deemed good or bad, write? What does it sound like? What does it look like? Can I create it too? These questions started me on a journey of reading like a writer!”
“Thank you for the time and invaluable expertise you put into the various aspects of the Oregon Writing Project. Teaching Argument-writing in Grades 6-12 has both enriched and focused the teaching and learning in my classroom. I thank you for your patience and graciousness throughout this process.”
“This class is so well designed. The activities, the readings, the project take you from a basic to a thorough and extensive understanding of how to teach argument writing… It was a great mix of collaboration, experimentation, individual writing, thinking, processing, lecture formats in class. Awesome!”
“I highly recommend that you pursue this opportunity. The class will be well worth the time you invest. It was the single greatest in service experience of my career and completely changed me as a writing teacher – for the better.”
“I’m bringing a renewed passion for language and playing with it. I see the importance of writers being part of a supportive community… I’m energized and affirmed.”
“The Oregon Writing Project has helped me find my voice as a writer. It has helped me let go of my anxiety and fear I would feel when I looked at a blank page. I was afraid of the empty space and afraid what I filled it with would not be good enough. It is this same fear and anxiety I want to help my students leave behind by showing them how to find their voices.”
“The resources provided and the cohort of this group were both exactly what I needed. I felt myself and my writing coming back to life, like dry bones living again or a dry sponge soaking up ideas, filling to overflowing, eager to share.”
“I am excited to write and to teach writing!… I had numerous ah-ha moments… Thank you-for the first time I can see myself as a writer, and a capable teacher of writing.”
