The Ethnic & Racial Studies Certificate is interdisciplinary and comparative. In each class, learners examine ways that ideas about race, Indigeneity, and ethnicity historically evolve, and explore relationships with power and intersections with sexuality, diaspora, class, gender, and religion. Students also become prepared to navigate diverse perspectives, obtain tools for communicating across differences, develop diplomacy, network with community partners, and integrate sustainable justice into all aspects of their lives. Further, minors have ample opportunities to engage in service learning, fieldwork, and/or participatory action research.
