Internship Opportunities
The Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies minor at Southern Oregon University prepares undergraduates for a variety of careers. Our program provides an excellent foundation for undergraduates with career aspirations in law, health, public administration, and social services. Students who wish to pursue doctoral work find that interdisciplinary training in GSWS equips them with theoretical and methodological strengths in most disciplines and applied research fields. Increasingly, specialists in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies are highly sought-after consultants in industry, higher education, insurance companies and personnel firms. State and federal government agencies often have a need for professionals with special training in the study of gender relations. Educational institutions commonly seek specialists to develop and administer Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies programs, contribute to the processes and offerings of women’s centers, LGBTQIA centers, and other institutional structures designed to study and support women, members of the queer community, and various underrepresented populations.
UN Women Internship Programme
The UN Women Internship Programme offers outstanding students the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UN Women’s work in areas such as strategic partnership, communications, advocacy, policy, evaluation, human resources, programme planning, research and data, finance, and ICT.
Internship assignments vary greatly in terms of content. They may have a country-specific, regional, sectoral, or thematic focus. Most interns support the design, implementation, and evaluation of UN Women projects and will learn about the work of gender and humanitarian action in an international environment.
Internships are offered depending on the availability of meaningful assignments and the needs and capacity of units/offices to receive and supervise interns.
Pride Foundation
Help make change in your community while you gain invaluable, lifelong skills! Pride Foundation’s interns are provided with opportunities for high-level work that helps with the organization’s mission of LGBTQ equality. This is an ideal experience for someone interested in a career in the nonprofit sector, particularly in philanthropy, and in applying his/her education and skills in a real-world environment. Learning opportunities include skill development and career exploration.
