Dr. Latoya Gibbs shares with students her ingredients for a successful and enjoyable career, as well as advice on mentorship and how to continue to be a learner.
Dr. Latoya Gibbs has enjoyed over 25 years of service in the restaurant, hotel, and aviation sectors, as well as in academia. As a life-long learner, Latoya successfully completed her first- and second-degree programs, began doctoral studies, and taught MBA students all while being a full-time employee during her tenure in aviation. Since then, she has also held roles as a restaurant General Manager, taught hospitality undergraduate courses, and is currently a Hospitality Recruiter. Dr. Gibbs is an alumnus of Oklahoma State University (Hospitality Administration – Ph.D.), University of the West Indies (Communication – M.A.), and Florida International University (Hospitality Management – B.Sc., Hons). On a personal note, Latoya and her husband Larry (SOU Professor) are both avid soccer and track and field enthusiasts. They enjoy traveling, being with family, and community volunteering.
