Find Inclusivity for Everyone at SOU
We want everyone to be their true, authentic selves in college. So, rest assured you’ll be seen as the individual you are and with the potential you have—without being forced into a prelabeled box. Southern Oregon University (SOU) truly believes that by cultivating our differences and learning from one another, we all benefit.
SOU is proud to have been recognized eight years in a row as one of the nation’s Top 40 LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges and Universities by Campus Pride. We offer a stand-alone Gender and Sexuality Justice center as well as LGBTQ-related academic offerings through our Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies program. SOU also participates in LGBTQ-specific college fairs, and our counseling and health staff provide queer- and trans-friendly services.
Our Social Justice and Equity Center empowers students to engage in intersectionality across topics in order to provide better education, advocacy, and a cohesive sense of community. SOU encourages exploring the multifaceted issues of race and racial justice. To help promote campus-wide inclusivity, diversity, and understanding, we are proud to offer an Ethnic & Racial Studies minor.
Whatever your background or path forward, SOU is here to fully support your academic journey and growth. Join the Raider family to experience an inclusive and welcoming college education!
“SOU has been a place where I explored who I am as a person and part of this society.”
