Minor in Biology Degree
Majoring in another subject but need a background in biology to round out your degree? Consider a minor in biology.
Biology is a diverse discipline with many different specialty areas. People with a diverse array of interests are drawn to the Biology minor. All share in common a deep curiosity of how the natural world works. Our students learn to apply the core principles of biological science when solving human and environmental problems.
Biology minors begin by taking the Principles of Biology course sequences before moving on to their choice of 15 credits of upper division core or elective courses suited to their interests and needs. SOU’s Biology program offers a wide range of upper division courses including Genetics, Physiology, Ecology, Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Fish and Fisheries, Biogeochemistry, and much more. Virtually all biology courses include a laboratory or field component to provide students with extensive hands-on experience with procedures and equipment.
Many students are delighted to find that a Biology minor complements their major. Whether a student is getting a degree in Business, Environmental Science, or Education, a Biology minor degree can enhance a wide range of field-specific studies, make a graduate more agile and competitive on the job market.
