Scholarships for Mathematics Students
Eugene and Ida Bowman Math Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance to a person majoring in mathematics or in teacher education with a mathematics option.
To receive receive this scholarship, a student:
- Must be a full-time student, either undergraduate or graduate, majoring in mathematics or in teacher education with a mathematics option.
- Must have successfully completed at least one year of college and show ability in mathematics.
- Financial need will be a consideration.
Mathematics Faculty Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance for a mathematics major of above average ability in mathematics who has demonstrated financial need.
To receive receive this scholarship, a student:
- Must have contributed to the vitality of the mathematics department and/or the university in a meaningful way.
- Preference given to those that show promise of making a real contribution to mathematics or mathematics education.
- Must have completed the three quarter calculus sequence, or have completed three of the following five courses: 251, 252, 253, 261, or 281 to be eligible.
Harry S. Kieval Mathematics Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to honor and encourage academic excellence in undergraduate mathematics studies.
To receive receive this scholarship, a student:
- Must be completing their junior work toward a mathematics degree at Southern Oregon University.
- Must have a plan for completing the bachelor’s degree in mathematics during the following year, with at least 30 hours of study planned for that year.
