Scholarship Types
Merit Scholarships
Oregon residents, residents of participating WUE states, and first year non-residents are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships upon admission to SOU.
Questions about merit scholarships can be directed to your admissions counselor.
The Southern Oregon Scholarship Application (SOSA)
The SOSA is a general scholarship application offered through the Office of Financial Aid with over 80 local scholarships open to newly admitted and current SOU students.

Steps for Scholarship Application
1. Apply for Admission to SOU
Upon admission, Oregon residents and residents of the 16 participating WUE states, and first year non-residents will automatically be considered for Raider Scholar, Laurels, Churchill, Siskiyou or WUE.
2. Submit the FAFSA or the ORSAA – The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is available at fafsa.gov on January 1. The Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA) is available in early October.
Some SOSA scholarships require a FAFSA or ORSAA on file for scholarship consideration.
3. Submit the SOSA – The Southern Oregon Scholarship Application is available for admitted students, current students, transfer students, and graduate students.
Through the SOSA you will be considered for additional merit and need-based scholarships, including the Diversity Scholarship (listed below).
Questions about merit scholarships can be directed to your admissions counselor. Questions about FAFSA, ORSAA, or the SOSA can be directed to the Office of Financial Aid.
