Financial Aid at SOU
Financial Aid may include scholarships, grants, loans, or work-study for admitted students. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required, and opens on October 1st of each year for the following academic year.
Step 1: Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
You can begin the FAFSA on October 1st for the following academic year. For example, if you are applying for Fall 2023, you can get started on your FAFSA in October 2022.
Step 2: Check your email
You will receive an email from SOU’s Financial Aid Office that will include financial aid award offers. Respond promptly to accept and finalize these offers.

The total cost of attendance depends on the number of credits taken, student fees, required books and supplies, room and board choices, and related personal expenses.
