Submitting Verification
The Department of Education selects some FAFSAs for a process called verification, to confirm that the data reported on your FAFSA form is accurate. SOU may request documentation from you or your parents. You must submit the required documentation and be verified before receiving financial aid.
The SOU Financial Aid Office processes verification electronically.
Selected for Verification?
Students must follow the verification process link and activate their Student Forms account. Parents must follow the link and set up their account to e-sign verification documents. Parents will also be able to set up an account if they receive an email from finaid@sou.edu letting them know that their student has completed their verification and needs a parent signature.
Important: Your Student Forms information must match your FAFSA exactly in order to set up both the parent and student account. If you’re having issues, you can review your FAFSA to check that all the information is correct. Deadlines
- For the 2024-2025 award year: No later than 120 days after your last date of enrollment for the award year or September 20, 2025, whichever is earlier.
- For the 2025-2026 award year: No later than 120 days after your last date of enrollment for the award year or September 12, 2026, whichever is earlier.
Not meeting the above deadlines can result in becoming ineligible for financial aid. Not completing your financial aid requirements before you cease enrollment can make you ineligible to receive certain types of financial aid, including Federal Direct Loans, even if you do meet the above deadlines. It is recommended you complete your financial aid requirements as soon as possible to avoid losing eligibility.
If we need to make corrections to your FAFSA after you submit your required documents, please allow up to 3 weeks for processing. We’ll send you an updated financial aid offer if any changes are made to your offer.
Processing time can increase significantly during peak periods. Processing time is typically 7 to 10 business days but may exceed 10 business days during peak processing times.
