Vice President of University Advancement and Executive Director, SOU Foundation
Janet joined SOU in 2015 and has thirty years of experience in university advancement. Prior to joining the university, Janet was a member of the executive leadership team at the Oregon Health and Science University Foundation in Portland, OR, where she served as Vice President for Alumni and Donor Relations and Chief of Staff. Janet also spent seventeen years at the University of Oregon.
Janet holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Cal Poly Pomona and graduates degrees in Public Administration and Educational Policy and Management from the University of Oregon.

The SOU Alumni Association will serve as ambassadors between the past and the future creating a lifelong bond for all alumni. The Association seeks to strengthen relationships among students, parents, faculty, and the community in order to build spirit and support for the University through communications and events; to provide advice and counsel to the University Administration and the Foundation Board; and to promote lifelong learners.

Raider Advocates are a non-partisan network of alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends who share a commitment to higher education, and to SOU. We need effective voices speaking together to keep SOU strong and vibrant.
Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing integrated marketing and communications strategies designed to advance Southern Oregon University’s image and standing among wide-ranging target audiences. This includes building and protecting the University’s brand position and identity, providing consulting on marketing efforts undertaken by departments and programs, and managing university-wide publications and other internal and external communications processes.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Southern Oregon University (OLLI at SOU) provides older adults with intellectually stimulating courses and social functions. Dozens of courses are offered in each of three terms, September through June. A one-time annual fee covers all courses that a member takes during the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.
The Sponsored Programs Office assists Principal Investigators and Project Directors during all stages of grant development and submission, from identifying funding opportunities and developing budget and cost proposals, to negotiating terms on grants and contracts. This includes post-award management, in partnership with SOU Business Services.
