Moneeka Settles

Moneeka is the Program Coordinator of the Innovation and Leadership Degree and the advisor to the students. She teaches both Organizational Communication and Intercultural Communication for SOU. Solving organizational puzzles and proposing creative solutions is one of her favorite endeavors.

Sara Adams

Sara Adams started her accounting career at Moss Adams, LLP in Medford, Oregon, Sara worked in the areas of tax and business assurance, providing services to clients mainly in the construction, medical and financial industries. Sara is a member of the Oregon Society of CPAs and the AICPA. As part of the INL program, Sara teaches Accounting for Managers.

Robert Arellano

Robert Arellano was the founding director of SOU’s Center for Emerging Media & Digital Arts (EMDA) and is the author of seven novels including Havana Libre (Akashic Books, 2017). Since 2015 he has taught Digital Portfolios, the first course in the INL sequence.

Jeremy’s experiences include over twenty years of of human resources management, higher education administration, and teaching. His teaching interests include courses that are tied to esports mngt., ethics, communication, organizational behavior, human resources, retail management, and leadership. Further, Jeremy honorably served in the United States Air Force (Active Duty, Reserves, and Oregon ANG; NCO) between 2002-2011. Lastly, Jeremy’s research interests revolve around applied ethics, third-spaces, and shared flourishing (eudaimonia).

Chris Cook, founder of Capiche, teaches Working with Emotional Intelligence – the very class she credits with changing her life in 2010 as part of her Master in Management degree. Chris is a branding, culture, PR and marketing consultant, and coach with nearly 35 years experience across all industries. She is currently focused on the Southern Oregon wine industry.

Erica Knotts teaches a wide variety of communication courses including Conflict Resolution, Nonverbal Communication, Small Group Communication, and Negotiation. She is particularly curious about observing the art of face-to-face communication in real world environments as she deploys practical learning experiences in the classroom. As part of the INL program, Erica teaches the Conflict Management course.

Pavlina McGrady

Pavlina teaches tourism and sustainability courses at the school, as well as Research Methods in the MBA program, and business communication at the undergraduate level. Prior to academia, Pavlina worked in the hospitality industry, holding various management positions with Marriott International and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. Pavlina’s research interests include sustainable tourism, cannabis tourism, and business sustainability, specifically exploring the relationship between corporate sustainability, innovation and leadership, utilizing mixed research methods. Pavlina is the Coordinator for the Tourism Management concentration, as well as the Certificate in Sustainable Tourism at the School of Business. As part of the INL program, Pavlina teaches the Capstone course.

Trish worked as a consultant and analyst in the healthcare field for over 20 years before joining the faculty at SOU. Trish is the Management Information Systems program coordinator and is a member of the Healthcare Administration faculty workgroup. She is currently developing curricula to build visual analytics, process improvement, and information literacy skills in management and business information systems courses. Her research focuses on the implementation process and effectiveness of innovative community health programs. Trish is the Coordinator for the Business Information Systems – Management.

Rebecca Williams

Rebecca has spent her career working with start-ups, nonprofits, small and medium-sized businesses and transitioning organizations through change. She specializes in leadership, strategy planning, innovation, mediation, dispute resolution, ombudsmen work, human capital training, organizational development, and operational refinement through the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Improvement Program. Rebecca enjoys supporting the next generations by supporting students to find their gifts and talents, and transforming communities through the mentoring of youth and as the Chair of the Rogue Valley Mentoring Board. Rebecca is the Coordinator for the Certificate in Human Resources Management (CHRM). As part of the INL program, Rebecca teaches the Organizational Leadership course.

Precious Yamaguchi

Dr. Precious Yamaguchi teaches intercultural and international communication at SOU. Her academic research is interdisciplinary, focusing broadly on issues of culture, identity, generation, technology, social media, and international textile markets. Her single-authored book, The Journeys, and Strength of Japanese American Women: Stories and Life Experiences During and After World War II, was published by Lexington Books in 2015. She has received the Distinguished Faculty Award, a Raider Academy Award, and the Queer Resource Center’s Erika Giesen Outstanding Faculty Award during her time at Southern Oregon University, and also a Top Paper Award from the National Communication Association. When Dr. Yamaguchi is off-campus, she enjoys traveling, painting, hiking, and spending time with family and friends from all over the world. As part of the INL program, Precious teaches the Intercultural Communication course.
