Mathematics-Computer Science, BA/BS Co-Major
What can you do with a degree in mathematics? The question should be what can’t you do? There’s virtually no career unsuited for a math major trained in critical and abstract thinking!
Program Preparation
It is recommended that students have completed at least precalculus and have some programming experience, however neither of these is a necessity.
Degree Roadmap
Students studying for the Mathematics-Computer Science co-major will have an advisor in both Mathematics and Computer Science. All required lower division courses should be completed by the end of sophomore year. Students typically complete upper division courses in junior and senior years.
Capstone
All students at Southern Oregon University are required to complete a senior capstone. In the case of Mathematics-Computer Science co-majors, they may select to do their capstone in either in Mathematics or Computer Science, or some combination in both areas. The capstone experience includes a significant amount of writing as well as an oral presentation.
